Notice the glow coming from underneath the car. Residual heat in the exhaust system lights up the asphalt underneath the car with LWIR energy. The rear windshield is reflective in the LWIR band, and since it is canted at an angle, it reflects the cold sky into the camera and thus appears very black (cold) in this image.
